“When you’re happy you enjoy the music, but when you are sad you understand the lyrics.”
- Frank Ocean
Hi, I am Mason Do, a singer/songwriter from Ridgefield, Washington. I began my songwriting journey from a young age, first writing parodies and covers of my favorite songs. As I transitioned into a new stage of life, I began writing original songs and using music as a way to express my emotions. Music and songwriting are a form of therapy for me as a navigate through life.
Where It Started
I started my songwriting journey at age 6 with learning how to play the ukulele. During this period, I mostly performed covers and would make parodys of songs. I remember writing a couple of short songs about my favorite NFL team and the little things exposed to me in my tiny world, but no song was as complete as what was to come. As I grew up and transitioned to singing and playing the guitar, my brother, sister, cousin, and I came together to create a family rockband. With the band, I composed our first song tited “Earth” and from that point, kept on writing. We wrote numerous songs over a 3 year span until the Covid-19 pandemic and highschool led to challenges in finding time to play together. So I continued my music journey solo, writing songs in my bedroom. Having faced multiple struggles and after learning multiple valuable lessons about love, the topics of my songs changed. I began writing more emotional songs to help express myself, using music as a form of therapy. With a lack of time, I’ve never really had the chance to record my songs, however, that all changes with this project.
